October dates

Posted by portsmouthwargames on October 3, 2016

The PAWS meeting for 8 October 2016 has been cancelled. Next meeting will be 15 October 2016.

The final Saturday of month, 29 October 2016, would normally be an informal DBA day. But the English DBA Open is on the following day, Sunday 30 October. So it has been proposed that we cancel the meeting on the 29th.

Therefore, if anyone does want a meeting on Saturday 29th, whether to practice DBA or play anything else, please let us know sooner rather than later.

    Message for Bill….

Hi – Peter Phipps. I have had a thread running on Fanaticus about the event on the Sunday 28th in Portsmouth. Basically I have recently got back into war gaming, but my DBA 3.0 armies are 28mm. I was really interested to come down and observe the event and learn a bit, prior to investing in some 15mm armies for the future. The guys on Fanaticus suggested that I should play as the best way to learn details etc – and that you might have an army I could ‘borrow’ (they did jokingly recommend not the worst DBA 3.0 like Early Lybians….). If this is feasible then really appreciated, and lunch wound be on me…thanks Peter

    • Yes, we should be able to lend you an army on Sunday. I do have an Early Libyan I could lend you but I think you would be more comfortable with something like Vikings. Just don’t do what the last person we did this for did at this tournament – he used the Vikings, never having played DBA before, and promptly beat me. He now does quite well at DBA tournaments.

That is great – thanks Peter. I normally have utilised armies up to Parthian, but excellent to try something later. Just had a quick look at the III/ 40 list for Norse Viking and looks good with all those Bd…..but no Cav or complex and should be relatively simple to handle…see you Sunday. Peter
